Born in Eastern Montana, raising a family at Newell, South Dakota, living in the Black Hills and now settled in Spearfish, the Seamans have found a wealth of material for the artists fine oils. Phillis continues to paint whatever catches her eye in the varied hills and plains, the city and country; however rural scenes past and present have forever been her favorites.
Her work shows her love for rural America and the enjoyment brought to everyday life by our surroundings and little happenings. The subtle use of color and design, and a keen eye to small incidentals make it very appealing.
Working mostly in oil in her home studio, she has exhibited throughout South Dakota, winning many awards. Her work is found in private collections in numerous states and abroad as well as having her pictures on greeting cards, designs made into decals for firing onto china and doing book illustrations.
You can see her paintings at many art shows and displays in the Black Hills and at her home by appointment.
